In the beginning of his career, Willem lived mainly of the income of all kinds of graphical work.
There are book illuminations for "Janneke en Mieke in de oorlog" by Gerard Walschap - 1959; "De uil wist het" by Jan Peeters - 1958; illustrations for school books for Van In & Co publishers, as well as a whole series of books written by Karel Verleyen.
He designed stamps, beer mats and cigar bands and, together with Jo Lagrillière, he wrote and drew the popular comic strip "Jan zonder Vrees"
Furthermore, Willem made numerous etchings.
Over time, quite a lot of this graphical work got lost; but fortunately, there is still enough proof of Willem's extensive work.
